The fixtures for the 2018/2019 season have just been released which sees Thurrock 1s again playing in London 1 South. The month of September is a busy one with five first XV matches. The season kicks off for Thurrock with an away fixture at Sevenoaks, followed by a home match v Westcombe Park, who dropped from London & SE Premier last year. Fixtures against,
Tottonians (Away) 15th September 2018
Medway (Home) 22nd September 2018
Camberley (Away) 29th September 2018
will mean that the squad will have a tough start to the new season.
New Coaching Team
To ensure they are prepared as best as they can be the for the season ahead Thurrock have built a new top-quality coaching team to work with the squad.
Senior Coach: Martin Jones
Martin joins Thurrock having recently left his role of Director of Rugby at Southend Saxons. He and our Co-Director of Rugby, Steve Putz, have coached together at both Saracens and Barking. Martin’s background includes playing a leading role in taking London Welsh through to a Top 6 finish in 2008/2009 in National 1 (now the Championship). Spells with Barking when in National 1, helping Westcliff secure a position in National 3, in addition to coaching at Southend and St Barts & the London RFC for a number of years, means Martin comes with a tremendous background in national and local rugby.
Martin’s coaching has provided him with the opportunity to coach in Sri Lanka, Italy and Georgia. Martin’s role will include developing our own coaches in addition to the players in the senior squads.
