David Mobbs-Smith will be leaving TRFC at the end of this season

After three seasons at TRFC David will be moving on, the club would like to wish him well in the future and would like to thank him for his dedication and hard work that he has put in both on and off the field.

The clubs DoR Dean White said 'I would like to personally thank Mobbsy for the last three seasons, we have gone through a lot of change in that time and I feel we are now in a better position as a club both on and off the pitch. David really did buy into the club ethos and worked hard to develop players at the club, I wish him well with future endeavours'.

Message from David Mobbs-Smith
After three seasons at Thurrock Rugby Club I am moving on to a new challenge.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Oakfield. There are a number of reasons why it is such a great club. Excellent facilities with a gym, squash courts, a thriving bar that’s open every eve and three pitches (two floodlit) and further council pitches adjacent to the carpark.

Four men’s and two women’s sides and a strong youth section tells you the real reason why this has been a special place, I have been fortunate enough to have been part of….the people. Rugby club people. Wonderful support on match days even on the road. For the new incumbent there will be the shock of the sight of fans standing in the wings observing training.

To be successful you need the support of many and at Thurrock that comes from the Board, the Business Development Committee, DoR Dean White, Team Manager Kevin Hymas, Squad Manager Jeff Cave and Physio Lucy Thomas. And then there are the players, the men that put their bodies on the line. It has been an honour to be their coach and work alongside Reece Durrance Captain of the 1st XV.

Arriving on a training night I’ll miss that view as you leave Long Lane and come around the corner with the dark shadows before you and there across the farmers land aglow with the floodlights on full ablaze a ‘Field of Dreams’.

Oakfield.

I wish all involved the best going forward in the future as the club continues to develop as a leading light in Essex sport.

Finally I would like to thank all at Thurrock for their help and support. TRFC will always be a part of me wherever I venture.
