Another Victory for the Tees.

Thurrock RFC U13s welcomed Wanstead RFC to Oakfield for an Essex league match on Sunday 9th December.

The game started with Tees facing a very strong wind and the spray of rain on a cold winter’s Sunday morning.

However, Tees u13 youngsters were in uncompromising mood and with quite a bit of attacking flair Tees, set about their visitors from IG8, scoring seven tries; DeBreuk (2), Lilley (2), Arowolo (2) and Holding (1).

Some moments of serendipity helped our boys but it was almost as if the training ground attacking moves since the start of the season were finally being executed without fault, all in that first 20 minutes.

Forwards, led by front rowers, Will Chapman and Harrison Smythe rucking over and second rows, Healy and Crawford were making big carries.

Shell shocked, Wanstead registered a response with a well worked try for them on the 20 minute mark, 35-5.

Though, Zack Debreuk completed his try hat-trick on 23 minutes to make it 40-5, Wanstead still had plenty of fight in them and they scooped up three successive tries.

Wanstead’s Jack McGuinness and Archie Robinson really stood out and it was no mean feat for them to rally their troops in advance of the half time interval.

At half time, Tees coach Ben Driscoll emptied his bench, with early second half tries from Earley (back after injury), and the pacy Shea Power left Wanstead trailing 50-20.

Wanstead’s game plan rested mainly on their giant second row Mofe Abidekun who until the second half had been having a horrid time of it from the home pack. However, Abidekun slipped in for a wonderful try and brought the score to 50-25.

Thurrock were to strike with three more tries, two more for Zack Debreuk and one try from classy out half Danny McAllister before Wanstead’s Mofe Abidekun struck for his second try to make the score 65-30

On the final play, “pick of the day” Wanstead player, Archie Robinson scored a wonderful individual try to make the final score 65-35.
