Blake started playing rugby through the usual school channels and occasional club rugby when he didn't have football commitments. Around four years ago he decided to switch and concentrate solely on rugby initially playing several positions before finding his place in the back row. Along the way he became school and club captain for his age group. Two seasons ago he was invited to trial with the elite player development group under Sid holt and dean cuttings guidance. Along with theirs and Mobbsy help at the Thurrock academy he has steadily improved and worked hard to achieve his own personal goals. Towards the end of last season he received an invite to attend a six weeks preseason with the full Saracens academy during which time he has made real improvements both physically and technically relishing the full resources available from a full academy staff and playing in both the premiership clubs u16 tournament at Warwick and against the Epdg barbarians. Following on from this he has been invited to continue and has now moved up to the main elite development group at Saracens academy
