Thurrock’s league season ended with a shattering defeat at Bury on Saturday, it looked like a game too far for the young Thurrock team who were brushed aside for the first 30 minutes of the game, and quickly found themselves 29 points down conceding 4 tries and a penalty without reply. But Thurrock dug deep and just before half time in what was their first attack scored a try from a well worked line-out Ben Timson the player who went over
The second half started off with Thurrock having their best spell and in the opening 10 minutes scored forward tries from Nick Cooper-Hicks and Stefan North giving the visitors some hope. But first a penalty and then a defensive error, just moments later let Bury back in the game gifting them a converted try, this dented the Thurrock comeback. Thurrock did continue to try and play and were rewarded when mathan Farrell who looked dangerous all game used his strength to score under the posts, Jake Barrand added the conversion. The score was flattering for the home side as they added two more late tries to complete the scoring. Two defeats in their last two games is a better pill to swallow after a great season, despite being ravaged by injuries the players that came in and stuck to their task and the younger players gained valuable experience in the last few games
