Brads 50 metre dash changes the game

CHINGFORD 21
THURROCK 25
Despite missing 5 regular players through injury, Thurrock made a very lack lustre start and were on the back foot for most of the first half as the home side fighting for survival getting more and more confident as the game progressed. The home side went over for a try and added 3 penalties and looked the more likely to score, with 2 very harsh cards back to back, Thurrock played the last 15 minutes with 14 men.
Tim Blundell kept Thurrock in the game with two long range penalties to turn around at 14-6 down.
Thurrock’s plan to survive the opening 5 minutes of the second half without conceding further quickly went astray, when a poor clearance kick fell in the hands of the Chingford winger and he had plenty of options and scored a converted try to extend the home sides lead to 21-6
Thurrock responded as a top 4 team should, and for the last 30 minutes sprung into top gear, Bradleigh Retigan started the comeback with a storming run culminating with a try under the posts, then it was winger Freddie Russo to score wide out and finally a forward catch and drive with Jamie Hulse getting the touch down, Blundell added the conversion for the first and third tries and were now 25-21 ahead and Chingford not able to get into the Thurrock half it was the visitors that looked more likely to add the fourth try
A hard earned victory in the end, an Easter Break awaits then the season run-in with 4 games 3 of which are at home, starting with the visit of LUTON on 2nd April
