Bonus point loss but much improved performance

THURROCK 15
TRING 20

Despite suffering their first defeat of the season Thurrock probably played the best so far this season, Tring who did not get promoted from previous season by just one point and a play-off heartbreak, decided to play with the advantage of the very strong breeze, but the in opening 10 minutes it was the home side that looked the more likely with some fine running moves but the Tring defence held firm. It was an exciting half but the only score was a penalty from the boot of Tom Newton to give the visitors a 3-0 lead after Reece Durrance slapped the ball from the scrum half’s hands and got 10 minutes for his misdemeanour but Thurrock held firm and the score was the only one of the first half.

Thurrock now with the conditions in their favour over done the clearance kicks 3 times in the opening 5 minutes Thurrock put themselves under pressure by kicking the ball dead or straight into touch and where made to pay as Newton took the points in front of the posts for an infringement to extend the lead to 6-0. Thurrock continued to press and Tom Worsfold landed a penalty from over 40 metres to get on the board.
Goss-Lambourne went over for the games first try after a spell of pressure from Tring, Newton then landed the conversion for 13-3. But Thurrock came straight back and put Tring under enormous pressure, Fraser Kidd went in under the posts but try was not given, because the referee did not see ball grounded, but Thurrock kept hammering at the Tring line and eventually Troy Michie finished the move given just the small amount of space, Worsfold kicked the conversion to make it 10-13
Thurrock looked the more likely but after good defence a Thurrock player got isolated and was robbed of the ball which gave Brown the chance to go over, Newton added the extra points.
Thurrock were not finished and they created a chance late as Andrew Nimmo went over for a score in the corner Worsfold not able to add the extra’s. Injury time beckoned and Thurrock tried to get go for the winning score, but time ran out and had to settle for a losing bonus point
