THURROCK 23
RUISLIP 17
Thurrock got back to winning ways but was forced to fight all the way to secure the win. They got off to the best of starts as Troy Michie was given room to score in the corner. But the visitors belied their lowly league position and spent most of the half looking the more likely and were quickly rewarded when Malawakla scored wide out, Pearham adding the conversion. They extended their lead further when Reed went over in the corner to extend the lead to 12-5
Thurrock slowly clawed their way back, with 2 Tom Worsfold penalties to reduce the deficit at the break to 12-11
Thurrock made 2 changes at the break, one of them moving Nat Farrell from wing to the back row proved to a masterstroke and changed the emphasis in the game, his strong defensive tackling put the visitors on the front foot, Michie added his second try, and the Farrell himself crashed over under the posts, with Worsfold adding the extras to the latter’s try. The home side led 23-12 and looking in command, but Thurrock have a habit so far this season of not making it easy for themselves and right on que, Ruislip broke through and scored a well worked try, the conversion was missed but made the final 5 minutes a little more uncomfortable than it should have been, but Thurrock did hold on and ended up deserved winners.
Thurrock this week will travel to Watford to face newly promoted Fullerians, kick off is at 3pm
