THURROCK 74
BARKING 8
What an end to 2016 for Thurrock, a scintillating 11 try performance was a festive treat for a larger than usual crowd on Saturday. The fog had hung around all day, but it cleared sufficiently for the game to go ahead.
The first 20 minutes of the game was pretty-evenly balanced with Tom Worsfold adding an early penalty cancelled out by Baker. Freddie Russo jinked his way over to open the try scoring, then Tom Worsfold jinked over to score, with Worsfold adding both conversions to lead 17-3
Some indiscipline put Thurrock on the backfoot and allowed Barham in for a Barking try, the conversion was missed and that was the last attacking threat that the visitors mustered, further first half tries came from Trent White and Lewis Brunger the earlier converted by Worsfold and at 29-8 at the break with a bonus point already secured.
The second period of play was all Thurrock as they scored 45 unanswered points, tries came at regular intervals with Troy Michie bagging a brace, Andy Nimmo, Charlie Russo, Reece Durrance, Jake Barrand and Earl Gorman. With the pick out tries from Nimmo and Michie’s second.
Worsfold added 4 conversions and Michie one to complete the rout and an excellent win. The players now have a 2 week break and then there thoughts are on early January when they visit league leaders Tring, kick off on 7th January is 2pm
