Thurrock got back into winning ways in almost perfect conditions on Saturday. Having endured a hard month results wise, the home side had a good start with an early try from Jake Barrand and Tom Worsfold added the conversion, Worsfold then added a penalty which was quickly cancelled out by Evans for the visitors to make the score 10-3 Thurrock then conceded a penalty try for infringement in the scrum Evans added the extras to draw level. The visitors had the best of the first half and added a further try from Horne with Evans adding the extras. Worsfold and Evans exchanged penalties to make the half time score 17-13 to the visitors
Thurrock were much better in the second half and pressing and looking the more likely again Fullerians added a penalty against the run of play cancelled out again by Worsfold who then added two penalties the game entered the last quarter a breakaway by the visitors ended in last ditch try saving tackle from Trent White was deemed to be unfair and the referee awarded a second penalty try and sent White to the bin and the visitors now led 27-19
Freddie Russo went over for a score that was converted by Worsfold and it was now a 1 point game. Thurrock’s fitness started to show and in the closing stages and White after his 10 minute sin-bin went over in the corner for Thurrock to regain the lead the first time since early in the game. In injury time a great break from Charlie Russo ending in a simple pass for Grant Scott playing his first game since September to score under the posts, Worsfold added the extra’s for a personal haul of 18 points and a deserved bonus point win for the team. A special mention also to scrum half Ed Stevens making his senior debut with a performance that augers well for the future.
