Even the return of Joss Nunn could not stop the onslaught

LETCHWORTH 61
THURROCK 19
Kicking off with a stiff breeze on their backs, Letchworth won back possession, playing phase after phase. Thurrock looked stunned by the onslaught, there being an air of inevitability about the first try, scored by talisman Mongston, Duke converted.
With Letchworth centre Vukinavanua, already causing Thurrock defence havoc from the centre in broken play where they struggled to contain him only after making a number of metre making runs . With ball in hand, Thurrock looked unusually lethargic, or perhaps the referee allowed Letchworth more than the back foot giving them no avenues to explore. Pressure caused a knock on, leading in turn to a scrum penalty which Duke easily converted in front of the posts
On the half hour, Amuimuia scored in the corner, quickly followed by another from Denny to score in the same corner, Duke converted the later for a 22-0 lead
Thurrock wisely kept hold of the ball at the next kick off. Letchworth at last were penalised for offside. The kick to the corner was spot on, followed by a good catch and drive, by Lewis Brunger to open Thurrock’s account with a try converted by Jake Barrand.
Denny consolidated the lead with a monstrous penalty from just inside his own half, bringing the first period to a close at 25-7
Not unreasonably, the Thurrock faithful calculated the now stiffening breeze to be worth fifteen to twenty points, thus leaving them with an outside chance of victory. The portents looked good as a mistake from the kick off allowed Thurrock to pick and drive to the line and Joss Nunn back after his worldwide travels being the scorer, converted from Barrand narrowing the gap to eleven points.
But any thoughts that the comeback was on were quickly deflated as the much changed Thurrock team missing 11 regular players seem to fold as Letchworth used their luck on the day to score 6 more tries through Eliaschewsky, Vukinavanua Hill, Duke, Denny. Denny adding 3 conversions.
Thurrock gained some respect with a try from a quick tapped free kick, with 18 year old Jude O’Sullivan going over for his 1st senior try.
