In Form visitors leave with a Bonus Point win

THURROCK 22
HAVANT 42
Thurrock welcomed old adversaries Havant to Oakfield expecting a tough afternoon and in a brutal encounter were the visitors edged a talented Thurrock side in a thoroughly entertaining game.
With both sides wearing dark stripes the kits at times were not easy to distinguish but the referee deemed he was happy, Thurrock's recent results have shown that they are a force to be reckoned with and the opening exchanges left the Hampshire side in no doubt that the home side would be a tough nut to crack. Thurrock combining a punishing physicality with a willingness to throw the ball wide forced Havant to defend for large parts in the opening exchanges.
The first score came for the home team when their left-wing Freddie Russo found some space and shrugged off a Havant tackle to power through the midfield and dot down for try, converted by Jake Barrand
The visitors hit back almost immediately when Joel Knight knocked over a rare drop-goal after a series of drives and as the referee signalled a penalty advantage Knight took his free shot which sailed through the middle of the uprights.
Jake Barrand added a penalty of their own when Havant were penalised for holding on and led 10-3
Havant, though had the best of the second quarter of the half with tries from Morgan and Morris. Knight added both conversions and 2 penalties to open a bit of daylight on the scoreboard. Half-time: Thurrock 10 Havant 23
Both sides emerged after half-time having decided a change of kit was needed and the visitors quickly added a try from No8, Cuffe with Knight adding the conversion.
Tagituimua was on hand and spotted a telegraphed pass by the home side and pick it off the run 60 metres in for great solo effort to secure the try bonus point.
Thurrock showed why they are so hard to break down and never stopped playing throughout the 80 minutes. They were rewarded with some enterprising play as they managed to get around the outside of the Havant defence and their speedy left-wing Nathan Farrell celebrating his Birthday ran away for a score.
Havant hit back for their fifth try and it was again Tagituimua who claimed the score for his second. Knight completed a good day with the boot and knocked over the conversion.
Thurrock never stopped trying and scored when Havant messed up their own lineout 5m out and the big home pack bundled over with captain Reece Durrance going over, Barrand added the conversion. Thurrock continued to press for a bonus point score but to no avail.
This week away to CS RUGBY kick off will be 2.00pm
