Deserved Home Win

Nunn and the back row to the fore

THURROCK 22
HAVANT 16

The weather was a real factor in this hard earned win on Saturday against old foes Havant. It was the visitors who were on the front foot from the kick off and were quickly rewarded with a Davies penalty. Thurrock with the conditions in their favour and soon Thurrock were level with a Jake Barrand penalty, and then following a scrum close to the Havant line Joss Nunn crashed over near the posts no less than he deserved in what he was the Thurrock man of the match, Barrand added the extra’s to extend the lead to 10-3.
However before the break some poor defending allowed Havant to tun in and score close to the posts scored by Armundus and converted by Davies to draw level.
After the break the visitors regained the lead with a Davies penalty but that was the best it got for the visitors as Thurrock led an assault on the Havant line with the prominence of the back row of Nunn, Pool and Charlie Russo keeping Havant on the back foot. Tries came from Nathan Farrell and Chris Shorter with the later being converted by Barrand to lead 22-13
A penalty in the last minute of normal time from Davies gave Havant a losing and little anxious few minutes of injury time but held on for deserved win.
