The weather was a real factor in this hard earned win on Saturday against old foes Havant. It was the visitors who were on the front foot from the kick off and were quickly rewarded with a Davies penalty. Thurrock had the conditions in their favour and soon they were level through a Jake Barrand penalty. T's took the lead after Joss Nunn turned over a Havant line out and Tom Pool was on hand to slide in under the posts, Jake Barrand added the extra’s to extend the lead to 10-3.
However before the break some poor defending allowed Havant to run in and score close to the posts scored by Trail and converted by Davies to draw level.
After the break the visitors regained the lead with a Davies penalty but that was the best it got for the visitors as Thurrock led an assault on the Havant line with the prominence of the back row of Nunn, Pool and Charlie Russo keeping Havant on the back foot. Tries came from Nathan Farrell and Chris Shorter with the latter being converted by Barrand to lead 22-13
A penalty in the last minute of normal time from Davies gave Havant a losing bonus point and little anxious few minutes of injury time but Thurrock held on for deserved win.
This week Thurrock face local rivals Brentwood in the Essex Cup Semi Final at Home
