Top of the league Thurrock entertained Braintree on saturday billed as a winner takes all cup and league double header and the match didn’t disappoint their legion of noisy support !
Fullback Darryl Worster was simply magnificent on the day crossing the Braintree whitewash for a hatrick of tries, bringing his tally for the season to 17.
Wilkins & Daisley’s young guns, skippered on the day by young hooker Dan Carey, hit the ground running scoring within three minutes of the kick off, Worster storming through a hole in the defence to touch down under the posts, easily converted by Earl Gorman who converted 5 in total.
Braintree who are currently third in the table were definitely not here to make up the numbers and hit back immediately with a well worked converted try. Not to be outdone, Thurrock’s Jamie Reid threw a fijian style pass through his legs to centre Earl Gorman who popped the ball up for 2nd row Andrew Kettledon for the simplest of trys. Again, Braintree came back to bring the scores level at 14 all but that’s where their challenge faltered!
Thurrock upped their offload game and Braintree finally threw in the towel , Rampant Ts scored a further 7 tries with 15 man rugby over every inch of the pitch !
Winger Jamie Reid grabbed himself a brace with Ben Stanley,Earl Gorman and Nat Farrell all adding to the total before full back Wooster was threaded through 2 beautifully crafted holes by master fly half Ian Rudgely bringing the final score to 55 points to 14
