While Trojans have never beaten the T-Birds, they have pushed very close on certain occasions, so any fixture against them has to be approached with the right attitude.
After a couple of poor performances the team knew that this one had to be right.
With almost everyone fit and available, it was a strong team that ran out on Oakfield. There were definitely signs of early nerves, but it only took 10 minutes for the T-Birds to hit the straps and open the score through Tamara Nicholls.
The forwards dominated open play and the backs looked dangerous whenever they had the ball. India Harvey, playing in the unfamiliar 10 shirt caused panic whenever she had the ball.
In a 20 minute spell of scintillating rugby, the T-Birds scored 6 trys, 3 from the backs (Tyler, Rettie, Cook) and 3 from the forwards ( Nichols, Foy, Hepper) to put the game beyond doubt.
Still not done, Sophie Tyler opened the second half scoring in only 3 minutes. Rettie bagged her second and Tyler completed her hat trick in the first 20 minutes to push the score out to 47-0.
The Ts visibly backed off as the coaches introduced the finishers but Ellie Lawther bagged a fine solo score under the posts for Cook to kick the conversion and end the game at 54-0
