Rochford v Thurrock

With the team up to full strength, the lads were really fired up for their first official league match. We started strong and for the first 20 minutes were pinning Rochford into their own half; constant pressure on Rochford resulted in two well worked tries for Thurrock. However, Rochford fought back hard and started to make a few breaks through the Thurrock defence, which at times was stretched. Thurrock continued to remain focused and with some good play from the backs took the game back up into the Rochford 22m line, again resulting in another try.

At the start of the second half Rochford came out determined to get back into the game and get level but with some great defense from Thurrock we held them back. We needed to score quickly to put the pressure back onto Rochford which we were able to do with another try. This seemed to motivate the Rochford team even more and with some good line breaks from Rochford and constant pressure of their own, they were awarded with a penalty on the Thurrock 22m line .This was taken quickly which caught the Thurrock boys napping and Rochford got a well deserved try which was converted. But Thurrock weren't sitting back and came back hard; the final part of the second half was again constant pressure in the Rochford half of the pitch resulting in another try by the T's. This was then converted making the final score 7-27. The game was played in good spirit by all the players.
