Upminster v Thurrock

Another good performance from the lads today. We started off by pushing Upminster into their own half with some good strong running from the Thurrock backs and forwards combined, but were unable to capitalise on the good work. Upminster then started getting into the game and applied pressure of their own which Thurrock defended well. However some strong running from Upminster resulted in a converted try for the home side.

Thurrock came back hard and the game was evenly matched throughout with both teams defending and attacking well. Upminster worked hard and managed to cross the line once more. Thurrock came back once more and with a well worked backs move, Harry Tomlinson crossed the Upminster line. We were unable to convert but this inspired the team to keep working. Half time score 14-5 to the home team.

Thurrock came out strong again in the second half and spent long periods of time in the Upminster 22. Tomiwa had a great strong run and managed to cross the line only to be held up and no try awarded. Thurrock were then pressed by an onslaught from the Upminster team but a great try saving tackle from Kieron kept Upminster out once more. The Upminster team built on the pressure and managed to cross our line twice more before the final whistle blew. Nevertheless Thurrock can hold their heads up high as they performed well.

Man of the match: Edward Suddell for being able to read the match well and create good ball for our backs and defending extremely well.
