Westcliff B V Thurrock
Great come back
The commitment to the team and this match was evident even from the warm up.This match meant a lot to the boys and they didn't disappoint. The game was fairly even for the first quarter of the match with both teams having spells of attacking and defending. Westcliff finally crossed the Thurrock try line to earn the first score of the match. The game continued at this high tempo with some fantastic tackles from Emmanuel Phillips and Harry Millsom in defence.
half time score 5-0 Westcliff.
The second half started off in the same manor as the first with some good breakouts from both teams. It wasn't long before Westcliff used the width of the pitch and crossed the T's line once more but were unable to convert the try. 10-0 Westcliffe. True character and team spirit shone through; the Thurrock boys never gave up and were soon to be rewarded when Ed Suddell (with his extendable arm) touched down over the Westcliff line but we were not able to convert. Cracks were beginning to show in the Westcliff team which we were able to exploit and the second try soon followed by Harry Tomlinson but again, we were not able to convert. 10-10. Time was now against us with just 7 minutes remaining we had to find away to cross the Westcliff line. Thurrock pinning Westcliff back on their line and some quick hands from the backs put Emmanuel Phillips over the line to put us ahead, which Joeseph Kelly converted. 10-17 to Thurrock. The boys had to keep focused and defend for the last 4 minutes but continued to attack until the final whistle.
Final Score 10-17
