U15 Season Review

1 year ago By Mark Lynas

Best rugby played with smiles and knowing that they gave everything in the game.

“Exciting Season with fantastic progress” Mark Lynas, U15 Head Coach
What a season for TRFC U15s!
Not only several Curtain Raisers on the first team pitch, but their first ever win in Division 1 and an incredible run to the Essex Cup Final.
Boasting a regular squad size of 26 boys, competition for places in a starting 15 let alone a match squad of 22 was fantastic, and a ''pleasant" headache for the coaches, and regular training session also saw attendances up to the full squad numbers, but no fewer than 16 which was testament to their devotion and hard work.
The season started well with a curtain raiser win over Robert Clack School and friendly wins over Romford & Westcliff. Further to this there were 2 away wins over Eton Manor, one in the first round of the Essex Cup and the other in the League. Although the league results did not fair well for Thurrock, they maintained their Div 1 status.
Essex Cup - despite delays and mix-ups with fixtures, Thurrock had a great run in the Cup, culminating in a fantastic Final at Ilford Wanderers against friendly rivals, Westcliff, who proved too strong for the Ts.
The season culminated in a tour to Camber Sands, (where they were runners up last year), finishing the weekend unbeaten, with 8 wins to nil, and 2 draws, to lift the trophy.
Played 38, Won 24, Drew 3 and Lost 11.
