Thurrock Rugby Club is set for one of the biggest days of the season this Saturday as Oakfield hosts a full programme of senior rugby, international action on the big screen and live entertainment into the evening.
With the Ladies, Men’s 1st XV and Men’s 2nd XV all in action at home, supporters can look forward to a genuine Super Saturday in black and white.
The day begins with a VP Lunch in the clubhouse, bringing together sponsors, members and supporters ahead of an exciting afternoon on the pitch. With three fixtures scheduled, the atmosphere is expected to build from early afternoon and carry right through into the evening.
At 1pm, the Ladies welcome Exeter University Ladies in Championship action. The squad continue to test themselves against strong opposition and will be looking to use home advantage to secure an important result. With their pace and physicality, supporters can expect an entertaining contest to get proceedings underway.
The Men’s 2nd XV also take to the field against Wanstead Rugby Club 2s. Having suffered a heavy defeat in the reverse fixture earlier in the campaign, the side will be determined to respond with a much-improved performance in front of a home crowd. Super Saturday provides the perfect stage to put that result right.
At 3pm, attention turns to the Men’s 1st XV as they continue their push for the Counties 1 Essex title when they host Chingford Rugby Club. With momentum building and the finishing line in sight, every fixture carries added significance. Oakfield has proven to be a stronghold this season and the league leaders will be aiming to maintain their charge with another statement performance.
The action does not stop at the final whistle. At 4:40pm, supporters can head into the clubhouse to watch England take on Scotland in the Six Nations, shown live on the big screen.
To round off the day, a live band will provide the soundtrack to the evening, ensuring Super Saturday finishes in style.
With three senior fixtures, top-level Championship rugby, a title race in full flow and international action to follow, all roads lead to Oakfield this weekend. Supporters are encouraged to come down early, stay late in what promises to be a standout day for the club.
