Thurrock Colts were crowned league champions last Sunday, 1st March, securing the title with a game to spare following an impressive 29–12 victory over Epping at Oakfield.
The result continues what has been a remarkable season for the young Ts, who remain unbeaten in the league, demonstrating consistency, attacking flair and resilience throughout the campaign.
Thurrock made their intentions clear early on, with Persaud crossing twice, while further tries from Hayers, Dennett and Wells ensured the hosts kept control of the contest. From the tee, Driscoll added two conversions, with Ballard also contributing with the boot to round off a deserved victory.
The success of the Colts programme was further highlighted yesterday as three members of the squad stepped up to make their senior debuts for the Men’s 2nd XV in their 27–15 victory away at Pegasus Palmerians.
Congratulations go to Bobby Tubby, Alex Dibble and Mikey Burch, who all featured in the win, with Tubby marking the occasion in style by scoring a try on debut.
It is another proud moment for the club and a clear reflection of the pathway from junior rugby into the senior sides, with the next generation of Thurrock players already making their mark in black and white.
With one league fixture remaining, the Colts will look to finish an already outstanding season on a high as unbeaten champions when they travel to Billericay on Mothers Day
