Sunday saw the 5 male youth teams in action from the Under 13s through to the Colts.
The Colts hosted Braintree on the AGP in a high scoring game, running out eventual winners 47-34. A total of 7 tries from the home side with Charlie Ovey & Liam Squelch grabbing a brace each. Other tries came from Joe Reynolds, Harrison Smyth & Jake Holding with Ethan Cook converting 6. Charlie Ovey was named Man of the match.
The Under 16s travelled away to Westcliff where they came up against a strong side. Despite a valiant effort from our boys, they were defeated 46-19. Bill Bailey grabbed himself a brace of tries with Gabriel Registe adding the 3rd Thurrock score. Ben Rumsby added 2 conversions whilst Ben Palmer was named Man of the Match.
Our Under 15s were the 2nd youth team at Oakfield on Sunday and came up against a strong Maldon side. In a close game, the young Ts side were defeated 17 points to 12. Ts scored 2 tries through Isiah Wright & Bobby Tubby, with George Driscoll kicking one conversion. George Church was named Man of the Match.
The Under 14s had a successful first game of the season as they ran out winners in their encounter with Bancroft. A total of 6 tries for the young Thurrock side as they also kept the home side scoreless, winning by 38 points to nil. There was 2 tries apiece for both Jack Thorpe & Daniel Cross with Adam Seedat & James Clark adding the other 2 tries. Cross was also successful with 4 conversions to give him an 18 point haul. Man of the Match went to fullback Sonny McCarthy.
The Under 13s were also away from home as they faced a strong Campion side. T's played some great rugby but the home side proved too strong running out 55-10 victors. Thurrock kept at it and probably scored the try of the day just before the end. Following some dominating breakdown play, a lovely intuitive kick pass from captain, William Persechino to Thomas Rumsby gave Rumsby the chance to open his account for the season as he flew down the wing from half way. Ts other score came from scrumhalf Lewis Mothersele following a chip & chase from Logan Scott. Men of the Match went to George Battie for some outstanding defence and Alex De Sousa for making a massive impact in attack.
