CHINGFORD 36
THURROCK 12
Some days just end up being ‘one of those’ and Thurrock can feel leaving Waltham Way that’s exactly what it was, no finger pointing no scapegoat just a team that dominated possession the whole game could not make it pay, but to be fair to the home side they had 5 try scoring chances and took every single one.
Thurrock dominated territory from the start, playing against a strong breeze, Thurrock kept the ball in hand and despite many opportunities good not get the points on the board, Chingford however made their first foray into the Thurrock half and came away, with a converted try. The match continued in much the same pattern, Tom Worsfold got over the line only to be held up, and trailing 28-0 (4 converted tries) Thurrock were awarded a Penalty try following persistent infringements by the home side, Worsfold slotted the conversion and at last there was a chink of light for the visitors. Bolstered by the returning Lewis Brunger and the arrival of new prop Patrick McDougall
They however could not make dominated pay, conceding a penalty, and another try this time unconverted to trail 36-7 but in the closing moments Thurrock claimed a try that had been threatened all day, as Trent White went over in the corner.
Thurrock can lick their wounds and bounce back from 2 straight defeats, what their supporters have seen so far this season they will no doubt come back stronger for the visit of Ruislip this coming week and hopefully start on a winning streak that is threatening.
