Today game was played in glorious sunshine at Oakfields.

Westcliff came today with their strongest squad, hoping to ruin Thurrock’s good run.

This was not to be the case as the boy’s from the start were on song, causing Westcliff into giving an early penalty in their 22 in a kickable position for Driscoll to easily convert.

Thurrock were hitting strong lines in attack through McCarthy’s surging runs
which caused Westcliff to infringe and Thurrock the next opportunity to put points on the board.

This time, a kick to the corner gave a line out from which the forwards gained ground. The ball was moved out to Treadwell, who a looping pass to McLouglin, who scored over the white wash.

Westcliff did score a try at the end of the first half, giving themselves hope that they could come back and possibly win the second half.

Clinical and unselfish rugby was the score of the next try after the break. Connor made a strong run, with the ball moving it out to the backs , running great lines, giving space and time for Staff to score in corner.

Our backs dominated in defence, ensuring little opportunity for Westcliff to show their speed and swiftness in attack.

Williams, who has just returned from injury, scored the final try with westcliff, giving away a penalty. A quick tap penalty from Driscoll saw Williams run a good line outside and he took an easy pass to score in the corner.

This team is growing in confidence and moving forward in leaps and bounds,
Which was shown in the last 5 minutes, where they showed resilience in keeping the Westcliff attack from scoring.

Man of the Match could have been a collective. But because of his work in the loose and all round play it was awarded to Alex Dibble.
